Flotilla sailing on NYA Yachts

A Setsail holiday provides a balance of freedom and support, run in a relaxed an informal style where you are accompanied by a Setsail lead yacht and crew. Flotilla sailing is ideal for couples, families and groups of friends, as well as those that are experienced or new to sailing.

On your arrival at the flotilla base you will be met by the Setsail lead crew and in the afternoon, you will be able to go aboard once your yacht has been serviced and cleaned. You will find a simple starter pack of provisions to see you through your first night, along with your bedding and shower towels for the duration of your holiday.

A member of the lead crew will give you a basic boat briefing and leave you to unpack, relax and pour a drink, take a stroll and have a meal ashore. The following morning after you have had breakfast ashore, a main briefing will be held between 9.00 and 9.30 in a nearby restaurant or taverna. At this briefing the flotilla skipper will welcome you and introduce himself and his team. They will speak about the sailing area and the expected itinerary for the following week, weather conditions and navigation, health and safety, boat care and handling, mooring and local amenities in each port, the weekly drinks party and a buffet or B.B.Q, held every two weeks.

The boat briefing will be held on either your yacht or a yacht of a similar size where a member of the crew will explain the operation of the equipment above deck, before moving on to the electrical systems, gas, fuses, switches, GPS, seacocks and the heads. Please take this opportunity to ask the crew any questions that you may have on any aspects of the yacht. Most mornings the lead crew will give a short briefing on the days sailing area as well as giving recommendations of ideal places to visit or moor overnight during the free sailing days. This information will incorporate weather, navigation and the local facilities ashore allowing you to Setsail to the next rendezvous. You will be asked to arrive in port between 4.00 and 6.00 pm, where a group meal is organised in the early evening if you wish to join us.
